Making Dreams Come True
Our Mission is to improve the quality of life for people living with a disability residing in or visiting Vermont through access to sports and recreational activities. We also work cooperatively with Stowe Mountain Resort to enhance the Resort’s ability to deliver a quality experience to persons with disabilities.
We further our mission through three activities:
- Providing financial assistance for Vermont residents living with permanent disabilities
- Providing grants to support advanced training to coaches working in the Adaptive Program at Stowe Mountain Resort’s Ski & Snowboard School
- Providing specialized adaptive equipment.
Friends of Stowe Adaptive Sports partners with Stowe Mountain Resort’s Ski & Snowboard School to provide skiing and riding experiences in a world-class resort setting, Paddle North for adventures in stand-up paddle boarding, and Just Ducky Aquatics to provide swim lessons for all.
Participation in sports and recreational programs offers individuals with disabilities the opportunity to develop independence, confidence, and fitness, all of which contribute to both physical and psychological wellbeing. Friends of Stowe Adaptive Sports awards scholarships for persons with disabilities who are Vermont residents to allow them to ski or ride, with or without a trained coach, at Stowe Mountain Resort.
Friends of Stowe Adaptive Sports purchases specialized sports equipment to support the local adaptive program at Stowe Mountain Resort Ski & Snowboard School.
Friends of Stowe Adaptive Sports funds grants for specialized training for ski and snowboard instructors interested in pursuing adaptive coaching.
